Your life is only as long as your next breath. So….breathe!!! Inhale hope…love…light…peace…and all the possibilities that,that breath has to offer. Then…breathe out blessings and praise for The One Who made that breath possible. Did you know others close around you will breathe in the words you have spoken? Make sure they are something of substance. Think before you speak. Are your words producing light or darkness… hope or despair…love or hate…truth or deception…life or death? With one breath you can give life, and with one breath you can destroy life. God, in the beginning, gave life to man with one breath. We also have the ability to breathe life into others. As we journey through this life make each breath count. That is all we really have. ONE LIFE…ONE DAY…ONE MOMENT…ONE BREATH. Genesis 2:7
How many times have you thought that!? Really…are you? In control? And just what are you in control of? Your life…your destiny…your children’s lives…your money…yesterday, tomorrow, today? How about your job…where you live…what you eat…or what you drink? Friends…are they in your life because you chose them? Did you choose this life at this time and in this place? Really? Did you? Nope. Didn’t think so. So why are we here, “for such a time as this”? Is there something bigger in this life then we, I, you, me? When I look up at the stars, the moon, the sun, and gaze out upon the beauty and majesty of earth, I feel very small and not at all “in control”. In a twinkling of an eye it can all disappear no matter how hard I try to control what happens around me. Yep…here today and gone tomorrow. But, save for faith, and hope in something much bigger, Someone much wiser and benevolent, life would be worthless and hopeless. I am so glad I am not in control…and that HE is. HE is and always will be. Nothing can change that. Though the world falls apart….family and friends pass on….God will always have my back. He is my rock….not this world. Make a list of all the things you think you control, then re-evaluate it. You might just be surprised how much you don’t control….and how freeing that is! “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matt.6:19-21 Have a blessed day
What is this weird fascination with Zombies? I grieve for the people who lost their lives down in Florida at the Zombiecon. But, here were a lot of people dressed up like dead people, celebrating death. It doesn’t make any sense to me. God blessed us with LIFE not death. We should be celebrating life everyday. It is a miracle. If you’ve ever had the honor of watching a baby being born you’d see the miracle of life in action. Death is cold, and final, for this world at least. For those that believe in Jesus Christ death is not final, but a new birth, a new beginning. There is so much darkness raising its ugly head in todays world. Why would anyone want to celebrate darkness in any form. “….I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.” Deut. 30:19. Many people hear the words “The Lord’s Day,” and think only of Sunday. But, really, every day is His. Not only that, but every breath we take, every sunset and sunrise we see, every baby we hear cry it’s first cry, every fresh peach we eat, and every love one we hold in are arms….all are His. Because of Him we live and have our being. Be thankful for the small things in this life, it is really all we have. And praise God for the small things as well as the large things. His blessings are as small as a grain of sand and as vast as the ocean. The next time you look up at a star-filled sky remember how small you are. But, in all that smallness…remember how big our God is, and how much He loves you…His creation. Blessings and have a wonder,and many, LORD’S DAYS.
Children are a gift from God, given to us on loan for a short time until they spread their wings and fly on their own. It isn’t always easy to watch them perch on the side of the nest for the first time, flexing those undeveloped wings in anticipation of freedom. Sometimes, like the eagle, we have to swoop down and catch them before they hit the ground. But there comes the day when wings have grown strong, lessons have somewhat been learned, they spread their wings and take off! What a sight! What a anxiety filled sight to watch them soar on the breath of the wind. They leave. Life is theirs now. You are no longer in control. Prayer and blessings for them is your only arsenal against the world that will, if it could, swallow them and turn them into something God did not intend. Free will was His gift to all of us. Choose wisely my children. Time goes by and blessing upon blessing, they return home bringing their own little ones. Grandchildren! Now you get to watch them watching their children learn to fly. Your children come to you for wisdom and guidance in letting go. Lessons passed on. And what a wonderful pleasure in sitting back and loving this precious continuation of life. Thank-you Lord for the gift of life, and the double blessing of grandchildren. He shelters us underneath the shadow of His wings so we can grow strong enough to fly. Blessings in letting go.
Cloudy and sort of gloomy out. Seems the world is on a roller coaster to Hades. So what to do? I’ve started a new book project. Actually, it was started a couple of years ago and I let ordinary life get in the way and procrastinated my project to the back burner. But, alas, I am at it again. Trying to write a little every day. May get this project, known as first draft, finished by the beginning of summer. Then the REAL work begins. Any writers out there will know what I mean. REWRITE,REWRITE, and REWRITE again. Kind of like life. Sometimes we rush through, then look back and say….Jeesh…what a mess. All you can do is throw yourself at the foot of His Cross and ask for forgiveness and mercy. Now with a fictional book project you get to hack out all the bad stuff and whip it into shape. Takes time, but it can, and will get done. When life gets too gloomy and the clouds won’t go away, get down on your knees, look up and pray. He’ll hear. His phone is never busy.
Read Philippians 4:4-8. “….whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things.” Hey, works for me. Have a blessed day.
Woke up this morning and made the mistake of watching early morning news. Within a short span of time I heard about a Jordanian pilot being burned alive, a commuter train wreak, and an Asian passenger jet crash landing across a bridge and landing in the water!!! It made my heart sick. Turned off the TV. Reached for my daily devotional and started reading. My spirit started to calm. In spite of all the hell breaking lose in our world our Heavenly Father is still on the throne. He is still in charge. I can’t let the craziness of this fallen world get me down. I need to focus on what I CAN do, not on what I can not change or fix. I pray for the lost ones and the ones who do know our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Keep the faith. Stay strong in His Word. He does hold us in the palm of His hand. Blessings for this day.
